Day 9 - A short flight

Having said goodbye to Sam, Bryan, George and  the boys who had been brilliant hosts and tour guides it was a short flight to Queenstown and checked into the Copthorne.  The room has the most amazing view overlooking Lake Wakatipu.

After a short break ok snooze we went out and up the cable cars (apparently the highest cable car in the southern hemisphere, or it was when it was built) where we had a couple of goes on the luge!!   I'm getting very brave 😌 on this trip , no photos of our own but here's one of what it looks like .
Once again the views were amazing but the photos don't do it justice, maybe that's what I should call the blog.

After a quick refreshment break we made our way back down to find something to eat, that was harder than you would think, unfortunately post covid there are very few backpackers picking up works which means a lot of restaurants and eateries are unable to fully operate and therefore close early or have just shut down.

Just as we thought we might have to settle for a maccy D we found a really good pizza restaurant.   Winnies gourmet pizza bar, lovely place to carb up for the Routeburn tramp (trek) tomorrow.
